Coolio and his Barbed Wit causes a Heap of Complaints to Ofcom
Author: sally // Category: Big Brother, CelebsThe Big Brother series thrives on controversy so it’s no surprise that once again it ran into trouble with numerous complaints against the rapper Coolio. About 527 complaints were registered with OfCom against Coolio for passing sexist remarks and bullying the other members of the household. The focus of these complaints was on the incredulous manner Coolio behaved with former singer of Liberty X, Michelle Heaton.
This new edition of Big Brother that saw Ulrika Jonsson the TV presenter win the top spot came with its fair share of controversy and feuds. Coolio is a larger than life character, especially when watching Celebrity BIg Brother on a large screen TV like the Samsung UE55B7020 LCD TV, who gets bored quite easily. Usually seen employing his barbed wit against others, Coolio picked on female contestants by making unpleasant remarks and potentially offensive statements hoping to indulge them in a verbal battle. Coolio made a particularly distasteful remark about Michelle Heaton for apparently having feelings for another contestant on the show, Ben Adams. When Coolio become aware that his remark had hit right-on target he kept building on this particular statement. Michelle Heaton was seemed extremely upset at the volley of offensive comments coming her way.
OfCom rejected these complaints stating that the two feuding contestants had solved their differences amicably and had apologised to each other. The regulator further stated that Coolio seemed perturbed when told that his behaviour on the show was quite intimidating and most his remarks were considered to be offensive. With a show like Big Brother on air it is difficult to not offend the audience during certain circumstances.

Almost a decade after the Big Brother series originally began the audience should now become fully aware of the fact that if two conflicting personalities are put together a feud is bound to occur. Added to this the show relies on controversy and disputes with remarkably offensive language as its clever ploy for marketing the series.
